Conference Tour GHOU 2010, Wednesday August 4
Our tour will lead us to Linderhof Castle (B), to Ettal monastery (C), Oberammergau (D), Garmisch- Partenkirchen (E) and Benediktbeuern monastery (F).
We will meet in Munich at 8:00. After a bus trip of about 90 min we will reach Linderhof Castle which is one of the famous castles of Ludwig II of Bavaria. Learn more about the castle here.

We will have a special tour in Linderhof showing us that Ludwig II used the latest technology of his time to guarantee a perfect surrounding.
After leaving Linderhof castle we will go to Ettal monastery where we will have lunch with typical Bavarian food.

Close to Ettal is the village Oberammergau. 2010 is the year of the famous passion play.

Oberammergau is famous for the colorful painting of its buildings. It is called Lüftel-Malerei. We will have a very good guide to tell us about the passion play and Oberammergau.

From Oberammergau we will have a short trip (30 min) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We will visit Partnach-Klamm (Partnach Gorge). It is 700 m long and the walls reach up to 80 m.

Our next destination is already on the way back to Munich. It is Benediktbeuern monastery. We will visit the workshop of Fraunhofer (the discoverer of Fraunhofer’s absorption lines of the spectrum of the sun). We will see part of the monastery and then we will go to the “Jägerstuben” to have dinner.
You will see Benediktbeuern without snow. Fraunhofer’s workshop is part of the monastery (right).
We will be back in Munich around 23:00. |
